40-60 days to maturity. Eruca sativa. Astro Arugula Seeds. Non-GMO, annual, open-pollinated, heirloom. Suitable for growing in fields, containers, garden plots, raised beds, and greenhouses. Slightly lobed, medium green leaves have a sharp nutty flavor that adds a wonderful accent to a salad or sandwich. Flavor intensifies in warm weather. Decorative white flowers are edible. Good for microgreens and baby leaf production. Prefers cool temperatures.
Packs of ~150 seeds
When to plant: Direct sow March–May and again August–September.
How to plant: Direct seed outdoors; arugula does not benefit from transplanting.
Seed depth: ¼ inch
Spacing: Thin to 4–6 inches for full leaves, or closer for baby greens.
Notes: Arugula thrives in cool Pacific Northwest weather and grows quickly in spring and fall. Hot summer conditions cause bolting and stronger flavor; partial shade and frequent harvest help extend the season.
