Veronica regina-nivalis, commonly known as Snow Queen, is a low-growing evergreen perennial herb. It is native to the Pacific Northwest and one of the first native plants to flower in the Portland area, often blooming while snow is still on the ground. Its bell-shaped flowers range in color from pale blue and lavender to deep violet-purple

Bloom Time: Typically late winter to early spring (January through May), occasionally reblooming sporadically later in the year.

Habitat & Cultivation

Native Range: Found in the coniferous forest understory along the Pacific coast, stretching from the Puget Sound down into the San Francisco Bay area.
 
Garden Preference: Thrives in dappled shade with well-drained, humus-rich soil. It makes a great groundcover under native trees or in shady woodland gardens.
 
Pollinators: As one of the first blooms of the year, it is a vital early-season nectar source for foraging bees and flies.

From Edgeland Nursery in Eagle Creek, Oregon, these plants will come wrapped in burlap and should be potted or planted immediately.
