This plant is found in meadows and open woods from central California extending north of California into Canada and less commonly in the Northern Sierra foothills. It blooms from April to June carrying dense, many-flowered clusters. The individual flowers can range anywhere from a bluish purple to pink in color. The flowering tube is pinched slightly at the top and the filament crown is forked. Height range: 2-3 ft.
