A 15-gallon fabric grow bag is one of the most versatile containers in the kitchen garden. The breathable nonwoven fabric air-prunes roots at the wall — the same principle as soil blocking — so roots branch densely instead of circling, and plants establish faster with greater vigor.
At 12" deep and 16" wide, this bag has the volume and depth to grow serious root crops: carrots, daikon, and parsnips have room to extend fully without forking. It's also an ideal size for potatoes and sweet potatoes: fill partway, plant, and hill up as the season progresses. At harvest, just tip the bag over and shake; no digging required.
The fabric breathes in both directions — air in, excess moisture out — which means roots never sit in waterlogged soil and the mix stays well-aerated all season. Works equally well in the ground, on a patio, or in a carport or driveway setup where in-ground planting isn't an option.
Pairs well with deep-root grow bag mix (pumice, coco coir, worm castings, fish bone meal).
