From Edgeland Nursery in Eagle Creek, Oregon, these plants will come wrapped in burlap and should be potted or planted immediately. Pre-order for pickup on the next second Saturday of the month.

Meadow alumroot is a clump-forming evergreen to semi-evergreen perennial with a low mound of rounded leaves and tall, slender flower stalks that can reach 3–4 feet. It grows in full sun to part shade and prefers well-drained gravelly, rocky, or loamy soil, with some summer drought tolerance once established. The foliage is rounded and shallowly lobed, while narrow spikes of small green flowers rise well above the leaves from late spring into summer.
 
Physical Characteristics
• Leaves: Mostly basal, long-stalked, heart-shaped to rounded leaves about 1½–3 inches across, divided into 5–9 broad, shallow lobes with toothed margins.
• Flowers: Small green to greenish-yellow flowers arranged densely on narrow, spike-like panicles; petals are tiny or sometimes absent.
• Flower Stems: Upright, hairy to glandular stalks commonly 16–40 inches tall.
• Growth Habit: Perennial crown with short rhizomes, gradually forming a substantial clump.
 
Habitat and Distribution
• Native Range: Pacific Northwest from British Columbia through Washington into Oregon.
• Environment: Gravelly prairies, rocky openings, open woodland, and wooded hillsides.
• Ecology: The airy flower spikes add vertical structure without dense shade and the small flowers are used by native insects.
