Brassica oleracea
An open-pollinated, cold-hardy, red leaved kale. Be still my heart! Market farmers often grow Redbor hybrid kale as the curly-leaved red standard. This beauty, which hails from the Baltic, is purportedly one of Redbor's parents, and is even more beautiful in its diversity than its love child. Open-pollinated. Packs of ~12 seeds.
Seeds grown by Swift River Farm in Salmon, Idaho.
When to plant: Start indoors February–March or direct sow April–August.
How to plant: Indoor start or direct seed.
