Siskiyou lewisia is a compact evergreen succulent perennial, usually forming a rosette 6–12 inches across with flower stems about 6–10 inches tall. It prefers sun to light shade and exceptionally well-drained, gritty or rocky soil; avoid sites where the crown remains wet in winter. Thick strap-shaped leaves form a tidy rosette, and this peachy-pink form produces showy clusters of starry to funnel-shaped flowers above the foliage in spring, often with additional bloom when conditions are favorable.
 
Physical Characteristics
• Leaves: Evergreen, fleshy, smooth, strap-shaped leaves arranged in a basal rosette.
• Flowers: Showy peachy-pink flowers, often with subtle striping or color variation, borne in open clusters on short stems above the foliage.
• Growth Habit: Low, compact rosette-forming perennial with a thickened root system adapted to rocky sites.• Fruit: Small capsules develop after flowering and contain numerous seeds.
 
Habitat and Distribution
• Native Range: Native to the Siskiyou and nearby mountain regions of southwestern Oregon and northwestern California.
• Environment: Rocky slopes, cliffs, ledges, talus, and crevices where water drains rapidly.
• Ecology: The fleshy leaves and roots allow the plant to tolerate seasonal dryness; in gardens, sharp drainage is more important than rich soil.
