Grow Bag: Fabric for Potatoes, 15 gallon

A 15-gallon grow bag purpose-built for potatoes, with two features that make harvest day genuinely easier. The lower harvest window opens on a hinge and holds back the soil so you can reach in and pull mature tubers without dumping the whole bag or disturbing plants still in production. The observation window lets you check soil moisture and see how tuber development is progressing.

At 15 gallons, there's enough volume to hill properly. Start with the bag one-third full, plant your seed potato, and add mix as the vines grow. Indeterminate varieties like Yukon Gold, German Butterball, and most fingerlings respond especially well to this method, producing tubers along the buried stem all the way up. At harvest, open the window and work from the bottom up.

The breathable nonwoven fabric air-prunes roots and prevents waterlogging, so tubers develop in well-aerated soil rather than sitting in compacted wet media, the main cause of rot and scab in container potatoes.

Also works well for sweet potatoes, Jerusalem artichokes, and any other root crop where staged harvesting is an advantage. Reinforced handles make it easy to move a full bag before harvest if you need to reposition.
