Anne is an everbearing yellow raspberry that produces large, golden fruit with a flavor profile unlike any red variety. It has a honey sweetness and a tropical...mango? pineapple? quality. The fruit is exceptionally soft at peak ripeness, which is why you won't find it at a farmers' market or grocery store. It doesn't travel. You grow it, you eat it the same day.
These starts were propagated from our own established canes and have been overwintered on-site.
Growing notes: Full sun preferred, tolerates part shade. Everbearing primary crop comes mid-summer into fall. Cut all canes to the ground in late winter for simplest management, or leave first-year canes for a smaller early-summer crop. Self-fertile. Hardy to zone 4. Space 2–3 feet apart; canes are semi-erect and benefit from support.
Growing notes: Full sun, well-drained soil. Mature height 4–5 feet; space plants 3–4 feet apart and trellis or support canes. Self-fertile. Biennial caning habit — first-year canes (primocanes) fruit the following summer, then are cut to the ground after harvest. Hardy to zone 5. Harvest mid to late July in the Portland area. Native to eastern North America; naturalized and well-adapted throughout the PNW.
