From Edgeland Nursery in Eagle Creek, Oregon, these plants will come wrapped in burlap and should be potted or planted immediately. Pre-order for pickup on the next second Saturday of the month.

Idaho blue-eyed grass is a small clump-forming perennial in the iris family, generally 6–18 inches tall. It grows best in full sun to part shade and moist to seasonally wet soil, particularly where winter and spring moisture is reliable; established plants can tolerate some summer drying after bloom. Narrow grass-like leaves form tidy tufts, and violet-blue flowers with bright yellow centers appear on slender flattened stems in spring and early summer.

Physical Characteristics
• Leaves: Mostly basal, narrow, flat, grass-like leaves that may reach about 12 inches long.
• Flowers: Blue-violet to purple, six-parted flowers with a contrasting yellow center, usually borne several to a stem; blooms April through July.
• Stems: Slender, flattened and slightly winged flowering stems, generally 6–18 inches tall.
• Fruit: Small, nearly round three-celled capsules that mature to tan or brown.

Habitat and Distribution
• Native Range: British Columbia south through Washington and Oregon to California, extending inland through parts of the northern and central West.
• Environment: Vernally wet meadows, marsh edges, wet prairies, seeps, and other seasonally moist open ground from low elevations into the mountains.
• Ecology: Flowers are visited by native bees and flies; a good fit for rain gardens and other places that are wet in spring but not permanently inundated.
